Passion

I like people for their passion…the way their eyes light up when they’re talking about or doing something that they truly love…

Perception

We all see with different eyes. That is a beautiful concept.

Haters

Haters are simply unrealized potential. People who have realized their potential don’t hate when they see another doing well, rather they are inspired by the other.

Advice from My Father

At the ripe, young age of 24, I asked my father for his advice on seeking a career. He told me if he could do things differently, he would have been more strategic and selective in choosing his career path, rather than taking whatever came his way and running with it. This seems to be the trend of our time: People letting life happen to them instead of making the life they want happen. We see it all the time. Adults having mid life crises, wondering how in the world they got to where they are.

But there’s a flip side. Trying too hard to make the life you imagine happen can hold you back from the life you were destined to have. You can become so paralyzed by the standards you’ve set for yourself that you often feel as though you’re making no progress at all. Unable to choose between open doors because you don’t know where any particular one will take you.

This is where faith comes in. Faith coupled with action yields results. It’s not enough to sit back and let life happen to you, as the entire universe is devoted to your distraction. But at the same time, it is neither wise nor productive to try so hard to control your future that you end up missing your destiny. As with everything in life, a balance is key.

Leadership

Whether it’s for a company, in your relationships, or in your own life, being a leader requires attention and cultivation in all four areas of human life: Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, and Physical. Ignore any one area and life breaks down.

Our Calling

What are you doing when you feel most alive? Have you ever experienced a moment when life seems to slow down, almost to  the point of stopping? Were you in the middle of some activity and hours passed by without you even noticing? Whatever it is that you were doing, that is your calling. We’re all called. We were all created with a unique purpose. The problem is most people spend their lives trying to find it or busying themselves so as not to think about it. But if you remember a time where life slowed down, time passed without you knowing, and you felt so energized that a cup of coffee never even crossed your mind…then you’ve already found your calling. Whatever you were doing in that moment, that’s it.

Thought for the Day

You shouldn’t speak badly of another or delight in their times of trial. You never know when a little birdie might be listening to your words or thoughts and decide to carry them off, by wind… into the universe.Little-Bird-Flying-JR7_8215

The Lies We Tell Ourselves

Don’t listen to the lies you tell yourself. Make no excuses. You deserve the life you want and no one is responsible for withholding that from you besides your own self! Wait on nothing. Except the Lord, our God. Wait on Him only and have faith that He will see you through this rough period of your life. God rewards action. Begin today, by taking strategic steps to put “life” back into your life. Sign up for activities, groups, volunteer, anything and everything that makes you feel alive!

Workaholics

I am an admitted workaholic. My drive to succeed is relentless, compulsory, and at times unnerving. I have noticed that I am never satisfied. And I don’t think that I ever will be. As soon as one goal is accomplished there is instantly another higher goal in its place. By work alone, I will never be satisfied, I realize. While this focus and drive is perhaps a strength of mine, it is also by far my greatest weakness. Work can be a distraction from the Real Satisfier if we aren’t careful. For the workaholics among us, may we always aim not to worship our work but to instead use our work as worship.

A Letter to my Family

So I just thought I should tell you all how grateful I am for each of you. You guys are truly my angels on Earth. Together, and in your own unique ways, you guys have lifted me up and carried me during a storm through which I otherwise would not have been able to walk. I’m confident God placed me in your hands knowing that you were each uniquely capable of holding me just how I needed to be held, when the time came to do so. I only hope I can be there for you in the way that you all have been there for me…
