It has been reported that women spend nearly $426 billion on beauty products alone every year. That’s over a billion dollars a day! Imagine how much you could save with the use of a little creativity. Did you know some of the best beauty products are fairly cheap and can double in their uses? Simply stock up on the items in this list, and begin to enjoy saving. These five beauty products are things that no woman should be without. In fact, chances are, you may already own a few of these items and you just have yet to take advantage of all of their benefits. Vaseline

1. Vaseline. Most people know that Vaseline makes for excellent chapstick. It’s one of the purest forms of moisturizer. But did you know that you can use Vaseline on your nails to prevent those painful hangnails? Or how about around your eyes before bed to avoid those pesky wrinkles? My friend’s mom is over fifty years old, with no wrinkles or fine lines on her face. She swears by her nightly Vaseline routine. Forget nail cure formulas and anti wrinkle night creams, good ole Vaseline works better than any one of those.

Witch Hazel

2. Witch Hazel. The label says use for relief of minor skin irritations, cuts, scrapes, and insect bites. But did you know it makes for an excellent toner? Use Witch Hazel as part of your daily facial skincare routine and watch its magic unfold. Witch Hazel serves as the perfect balanced toner, getting the job done of tightening your pores and removing oil, without drying out your skin. It can also be used to heal damaged skin from too much sun exposure and soothe razor burn! The best part? It’s only $3.19 for a 16oz bottle at Walmart!

tea tree oil

3. Tea Tree Oil. Tea Tree Oil is a little known beauty secret that serves in a variety of ways. It’s great for getting rid of acne, scars, and just about any other pesky skin blemish you can think of. I have even heard that this little magic oil can get rid of warts when used consistently! You can find it at your local natural health food store. Just be sure you buy the organic kind, as many brands have tried to rip it off.

Manuka Honey

4. Manuka Honey. Though it’s on the pricier side for a jar of honey, this stuff is so worth it! Spread the honey over your face and leave it on for ten minutes as a mask. When you wash it off, your face will feel younger, fresher, and healthier almost instantly. The power lies in Manuka Honey’s antibacterial agents. These same properties make Manuka Honey an effective treatment for wounds, infections, and stomach aches. This honey is also great at fighting colds and sore throats. Simply stir one spoonful of Manuka honey into your tea or hot lemon drink, and stop the cold dead in its tracks.

Apple Cider Vinegar

5. Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple Cider Vinegar is one thing that you should always have in the house. Not only does it work to shorten the duration of colds when mixed with a glass of orange juice or warm water, but you can also take shots of this solution throughout the day for an instant, natural boost of energy. The vinegar can also be used as a rinse after shampooing to dramatically increase your hair’s shine. You can rub it on your teeth and rinse to help remove stains. The uses for Apple Cider Vinegar are endless. Basically, this miracle product is effective for just about anything- your hair, skin, health. It’s certainly one thing that no home should be without.

Curing vs. Healing

We thought we could cure everything, but it turns out that we can cure only a small amount of human suffering. The rest of it needs to be healed and that’s different.

Daily Inspiration

You only have one life to live. There are going to be a lot of maybes, what-ifs, and could-have-beens. But if you want to spend your life happy, focus on what you already have…

Night

Night is the time when we’re alone, isolated in our bed, away from distractions and forced to confront our pain. I used to fear the night. I dreaded falling asleep, while needing rest more than ever before. In the quiet dark, the pain I spent all day running from, would sit right down on the edge of my own bed, like a familiar stranger, just staring at me. I hid from it any way I could; sleeping aids, prescription meds, exhaustion, alcohol… But no matter how great my hiding place, or how long I hid, the pain was relentless. It wouldn’t leave. Night after night, there it sat on my bed. Waiting for me. What does it want from me?!

Eventually, I learned to stare back. I began to even look forward to the night, when I could lie with that familiar stranger, face to face. Today, although the pain remains, its power is weakened. Finally, I am able to look it in the eyes and say, “I’m not scared of you anymore. I am grateful for you.”

Working Through Relationship Issues Increases Your Inner Strength

It’s not about who’s right and who’s wrong. This isn’t judge Judy. Climb over whatever you have to climb to get each other back. He is worth every ounce of fight you have. Fight for this relationship. Sure, what happened wasn’t an accident but it’s not leukemia either.

But one day it might be. And you’ll need each other then. Don’t make a mountain of a little situation because one day, when the mountain comes, you won’t be able to climb it… you won’t have the strength.

A Poem I Wrote at Age 12

Found this in an old journal of mine and thought it was kind of sweet. It portrays a wise insight told from the eyes of an innocent, inquisitive, and observant little girl (me;).

“Size”

If all size is, is a number

that helps us choose which jeans to buy

then why does it matter so?

I mean why has it caused people to get sick

or sometimes even die

when their real size will never show?

If it’s a guy or friend

who’s telling you your weight is wrong

Then you definitely do not need them

Walk away, be strong.

So tell me if you would,

exactly what does size mean?

Is it the way people judge us?

Or the number on our jeans?

Now life is short

and bodies weren’t made to hate.

So please don’t let life pass you

because you’re worrying about your weight.

When You Find Your Calling but Don’t Listen to It: How Your Body Acts Out

Have you ever found that activity you were made for? While you’re doing it your whole self, from the tips of your toes to your head to your soul, screams, “This is what I was made for!” It’s similar to an adrenaline rush but not the same. An adrenaline rush is more of a one time thing. Eventually, as the activity is repeated, the rush will dissipate as the activity simply doesn’t provide that same stimulation.

Not so with finding your calling. Doing what you were made to do gives you that same high over and over again for as long as you do it. I believe we were made to live this way. But the tragedy is most of us settle for less.

Ever tried doing something else for a living after having found your calling? Your whole body refuses. Day and night, it mumbles with depression- but what about ——? Oh, sure, there are moments of happiness but the sorrow which permeates is ever present, like a shadow over all you hope to accomplish. Point is, your body knows when you’re doing what you were made to do. You’re soul, mind, heart… they all know. It is quite literally a physical reaction that we have to doing (or not doing) our “job”.

We all know what it’s like to have a friend or family member mad at us. Their disappointment and dissatisfaction combined with our guilt and shame, weighs on us like a cinder block in the ocean. Similarly, not following your calling, when you’ve been blessed enough to find it, is like having your own self mad at you. And having to face that person in the mirror, day in and day out.
