If God loves us then why do we suffer?

Women suffering with head in her hands. If God love us, why do we suffer?

It is written, “The Spirit of the Lord… has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” (Isaiah 61:1) Why does God allow us to suffer, if He loves us?

You want to know why this has happened to you. You want to make sense of your suffering. As though this world operates from a helm of justice. But alas! You live in a fallen world. And true justice will not be restored until I come back.

Suffering is a part of your life on Earth. Even my own Son, Jesus Christ, suffered. Do you remember what Jesus called out on the cross? “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” There that question is again. Why.

Indeed, you are not alone in your suffering. You often aren’t even the cause of your suffering. Your suffering is the result of the fall of mankind. And I can assure you that it breaks My heart just as much as it does yours.

So pick up the pieces of your heart, dear one. And bring them to me. Then watch and wait in My healing presence as I mend your broken heart and turn your suffering into glory.

I am near to the broken-hearted. And I am near to you now.

God Chose Me – Charles Spurgeon

Home » Archives for VoW » Page 3
a portrait of Charles spurgeon who wrote the inspired thoughts. I have no question that God chose me.

I have no question that God chose me. How can I be so sure? Because I believe in Him and Jesus Christ as my Savior. I could not have come to this belief by my own free will. It can only be explained by the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s grace at work within me.

I am quite certain that He chose me because if God had not chosen me, I should never have chosen Him. And it must be true in my case that He chose me before I was born, because He certainly would never have chosen me afterwards.

And I know that He elected me for reasons unbeknownst to me, because I could never find any reason in myself why He should look upon me with such unconditional love.

A Mind Controlled by the Spirit

Home » Archives for VoW » Page 3
The bible tells us that the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace

It is written, “The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6)

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you think My thoughts. Your mind is powerful. You know to beware of your thoughts. When your thoughts begin to overwhelm and control you, your mind leads you towards death.

Call out to me! And I will answer you. I will help you to think like me, with gratitude and grace. So that your mind can be dominated by My thoughts, which are higher than yours.

When your mind is controlled by My thoughts, you experience life and peace. This is what I offer you.

Remember, while your adversary tempts you, I test you. Your faith is strengthened in trials of any kind. I love you.

Total and Complete Healing

Home » Archives for VoW » Page 3
Experience God's total and complete healing.

Are you ready for total and complete healing? This sort of healing can only come from the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is written, “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8)

My precious one, keep your eyes on me. The Author and Finisher of your faith. Have I not proven that I am trustworthy?

Surely, I could take away your circumstances in an instant, but I have not yet. Praise me in trials of any kind, for I am at work within you. Like a potter molds his clay, so do I use your circumstances to mold you.

So rejoice in all that I am doing! Though you are perplexed, you are not in despair. For you know me. Now go, and tell the others what I’ve done for you. Total and complete healing.

What Does The Bible Say About Love?

Home » Archives for VoW » Page 3
What does the Bible say about love? Come deepen your faith and understanding of the Bible and God's perfect love.

What does the Bible say about love? The Bible has a great deal to say about love. In fact, the Bible says that “love is of God” and “God is love.” (1 John 4:7-8) Therefore, everything God does is influenced by His love.

The Bible says that God is motivated by love to save the world. God’s love is on full display in the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf. Accordingly, God’s love does not require us to be “worthy” to receive it.

The Bible says that, since true love is part of God’s nature, God is the source of love. He’s the initiator of a loving relationship with us. Any love we have for God is simply a response to His sacrificial love for us.

The Bible says that we should love others the way that God loves us. We are to love the family of God and our enemies. As we show gracious and selfless love, we reflect God’s love to a lost and dying world.

The Bible says that perfect love drives out fear. That nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ. In other words, God’s love doesn’t wax and wane. It’s not a fickle, emotional sensation.

In 1 Corinthians 13, we can read love’s characteristics: love is patient and kind; love doesn’t envy, boast, or dishonor others; love is not proud or self-seeking; love is not easily angered, doesn’t keep a record of wrongs, and doesn’t delight in evil; rather, love rejoices with the truth; love always protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres; love never fails. Of the greatest of God’s gifts, faith, hope, and love, the greatest is love.

Our human understanding of love is flawed, weak, and incomplete, but the more we look at Jesus, the better we can understand true love. I highly recommend checking out www.gotquestions.org to learn more about the Bible and have many of your questions answered. Happy Valentine’s Day!

I Have Great Compassion for You

It is written, “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” (Psalm 16:11)

My beloved, draw near to me and I draw near to you. I intended that we do life together in this way. In deep intimacy.

From time to time, you forget who I am. You begin to try to exert control over your own life. To do life away from me. While this hurts me, and distances yourself from me, my love for you remains steadfast. And when you remember just how much you need me, when you kneel in awe before me, I embrace you like a parent embraces their child. I have great compassion for you.

I am always here. Eager to be a part of your life. I am the sustainer of your life. So cling to me.

God is a Refuge for Us

It is written, “Trust in Him at all times you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” (Psalm 62:8)

My beloved, there are no feelings too big for me. Nothing that you say, do, or even think surprises me. Not a hair falls from your head without me knowing. So then, don’t you think that I already know your heart?

Come to me with your weary soul and I will give you rest. Pour out your heart to me and my Holy Spirit will comfort you. I am your Counselor, better than any therapist you could hire. Share with me and receive peace in My presence.

Not only will you find comfort, but I will also give you strength to face the battle before you. And wisdom to know your next step.

The God of angel’s armies helps you. In a real, literal, and physical way. Why would you look anywhere else for comfort?

My arms are open. My ears are listening. In your weakness, my power is on full display. I love you.

Go in Peace

It is written, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Do not be anxious about anything. I have heard your prayers and my word is good. Cling to My Word, for it is your life source. I am the Word and the Word is me. The Word is alive!

So rejoice! I have heard your requests and I have compassion on you. The compassion you feel for your loved ones is only a mere fraction of the love I have for you. Why then would your heart be troubled?

Let my peace guard your heart and mind. In me, all things are possible. Have I not proven my faithfulness?

Consider it a blessing when you face trials, for my power is made great in your weakness. These trials provide an opportunity for you to strengthen your faith and grow closer to me. In your trials, my power is on full display.

Remember child, we are on this journey together. You are not alone. I will equip you. So lean into me and trust in me. Go in peace.

That’s My King!

That’s My King

– S.M. Lockridge

The Bible says
He’s the King of the Jews
He’s the King of Israel
He’s the King of Righteousness
He’s the King of the Ages
He’s the King of Heaven
He’s the King of Glory
He’s the King of Kings
and He is the Lord of Lords

Now that’s my King!
David says
The Heavens declare the glory of God
And the firmament showeth His handiwork
No means of measure can define His limitless love
No far seeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of His shoreless supply
No barriers can hinder Him from pouring out His blessing

He’s enduringly strong
He’s entirely sincere
He’s eternally steadfast
He’s immortally graceful
He’s imperially powerful
He’s impartially merciful

That’s my King!
He’s God’s Son
He’s the sinners’ Saviour
He’s the centrepiece of civilisation
He stands alone in Himself
He’s august
He’s unique
He’s unparalleled
He’s unprecedented
He’s supreme
He’s pre-eminent
He’s the loftiest idea in literature
He’s the highest personality in philosophy
He’s the supreme problem in higher criticism
He’s the fundamental doctrine in true theology
He’s the cardinal necessity of spiritual religion

That’s my King!
He’s the miracle of the age
He’s the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him
He’s the only one able to supply all of our needs simultaneously
He supplies strength for the weak
He’s available for the tempted and the tried
He sympathises and He saves
He guards and He guides
He heals the sick
He cleansed the lepers
He forgives sinners
He discharges debtors
He delivers the captives
He defends the feeble
He blesses the young
He serves the unfortunate
He regards the aged
He rewards the diligent
And He beautifies the meek

Do you know Him?
My King is the key of knowledge
He’s the wellspring of wisdom
He’s the doorway of deliverance
He’s the pathway of peace
He’s the roadway of righteousness
He’s the highway of holiness
He’s the gateway of glory
He’s the master of the mighty
He’s the captain of the conquerors
He’s the head of the heroes
He’s the leader of the legislators
He’s the overseer of the overcomers
He’s the governor of governors
He’s the prince of princes
He’s the King of Kings
And He’s the Lord of Lords

That’s my King
That’s my King!
My King
His office is manifold
His promise is sure
His life is matchless
His goodness is limitless
His mercy is everlasting
His love never changes
His word is enough
His grace is sufficient
His reign is righteous
His yoke is easy
and His burden is light
I wish I could describe Him to you
He’s indescribable
He’s indescribable
He’s incomprehensible
He’s invincible
He’s irresistible
I’m trying to tell you
The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him
Let alone a man explain Him
You can’t get Him out of your mind
You can’t get Him off of your hands
You can’t outlive Him
And you can’t live without Him
The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him
but they found out they couldn’t stop Him
Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him
The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree
And Herod couldn’t kill Him
Death couldn’t handle Him
And the grave couldn’t hold Him

That’s my King!
He always has been
And He always will be
I’m talking about
He had no predecessor
and He’ll have no successor
There was nobody before Him
and there’ll be nobody after Him
You can’t impeach Him
and He’s not going to resign

That’s my King!
Praise the Lord
That’s my King
Thine is the Kingdom
And the power
And the glory
The glory is all His
Thine is the Kingdom
And the power
And the glory
For ever
And ever
And ever
And when you get through with all of the forevers
Then
Amen

Your Faith will be Rewarded

It is written, “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord, with all your heart and mind, and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

Breathe, child. You are stressed and upset because you’re not getting to do what you want. But do you trust me for what you need? Maybe I have different plans for you today, then you do for yourself. Are you willing to submit to my plans? Will you do so joyfully? Are you confident in my abilities? To protect you, guide you, and lead you? Will you follow me with joy? Free of distractions?

Watch how I turn your day around when you lean on me, and trust in me, and you do so with confidence. Then, your faith will be rewarded.
