I’ll Always Want Him

“I’ll always want him. Until every sun goes dark in every sky, until I am nothing more than long-forgotten cosmic dust, I will want him. And even then I suspect my particles will long for his.”

-Ann Aguirre

A Poem I Wrote at Age 11

Why do we call them stars

when the stars are in the sky?

Are they worthy of this name?

Not nearly, and I know why.

While the Stars only shine

when the cameras are on,

the real Stars shine all night

until the crack of dawn.

So why do we call them Stars?

Are they worthy of this name?

No, and if they are

then we are too,

for all humans are the same.

I’m writing this poem

for all the world to see,

that calling the “stars” celebrities

will be just fine with me.

There is something beautiful about a billion stars held steady by a God who knows what He is doing…stars

Even after all this time, the Sun never says to the Earth, “You owe me.” Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the whole sky.
