God will only fill empty hands.

God will only fill empty hands.

“Religion is what happens when the spirit has left the building.” -Bono
Our most difficult task is to live in the present
Yes, this must be our most difficult task
To live truly free, from the angst of the future
All chains broken, from the links of the past
Our most pressing issue, our deepest concern
Our happiness well, the love for which we yearn
All here in the present, waiting for us
Though it is difficult, meet there we must
The only place where God exists
The here, the now, a heavenly bliss
While all the world serves to distract
To live in the present, our most difficult task.
You can only hide from God, by hiding in God.
God’s forgiveness begins where blame-shifting ends.

Christian spirituality is like a music birthed out of freedom. A language of the soul. Everybody sings their song the way they feel it, closing their eyes and lifting up their hands…
When I think about the Universe, how scientists haven’t found the edge of it, how nobody knows exactly where we are on the map…

I think how there are really only two human responses to such beautiful mystery- terror and awe.
God tells us that fear is the appropriate response, that it is the beginning of all wisdom. Yet, I think too much of our time is spent trying to dissect God, to understand Him (so that we no longer have to fear) and too little is spent allowing our hearts to simply feel awe.
It’s ironic; we deprive our hearts of wonder and yet, we need wonder. We need wonder to explain what is going to happen to us. We all know that death is coming and we need something mysterious to happen after it. We need to know that God has things figured out, even if we don’t. We need there to be Someone bigger than us who has it all under control.
Yes, I think this is our greatest worship- wonder.
Success and failure are Master words, meaning they are to be decided and defined by the Master. As Christians, we are not our own masters and thus need not be concerned with words such as “Success” or “Failure” in the worldly sense. But Faithfulness, now that is our concern as stewards.
Think of it this way, God doesn’t need you or your talents. He can do more with one act of faithfulness than you can do in 10,000 lifetimes.
Success in life, then, is simply idenitifying what God has called you to and being completely faithful in it.
Everything on Earth is composed of opposites. We relate to the world through contrasts. Scientists call this The Unity of Opposites.
Just think of nature. Day and night, light and darkness, hot and cold…
Or your daily life. Gain and loss, pleasure and pain, good and bad, and so on.
Nothing has no opposites.
Except God. God is No Thing.
I have no questions that God chose me. How can I be so sure? Because I believe in Him and Jesus Christ as my Savior. I could not have come to this belief by my own free will. It can only be explained by the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s grace at work within me.
I am quite certain that He chose me because if God had not chosen me, I should never have chosen Him. And it must be true in my case that He chose me before I was born, because He certainly would never have chosen me afterwards. And I know that He elected me for reasons unbeknownst to me, because I could never find any reason in myself why He should look upon me with such unconditional love.
