Forgiveness (An Easter Poem)

If it were up to me and me alone,

I’d make you feel the pain and hurt you just as you’ve hurt me.

But I know a route that starts with love and ends in love, just like a circle.

It’s a healing route;

life changing and fulfilling all the same.

And so I choose to take with you, the path that Jesus took with me.

It’s the only path that works and my hope rests in its effectiveness.

A New Years Eve Poem

My hope for you this New Year

is forgiveness of yourself and others,

revival of what matters most,

relationships with friends and lovers.

My hope for you is motivation,

bigger dreams, and inspiration.

Realistic goals and follow through,

these things are my hope for you.

My hope for you this New Year

is healing what you’ve broken;

repairing, mending, letting go

of all apologies left unspoken.

I hope when you look back to where

you were this time last year,

you’re in an entirely different place.

Your truest self is ever near.

I hope that you have grown and changed.

With open arms embrace the pain,

search for joy and new love, too.

These things are my hope for you.

Life Comes in Waves

Life comes in waves.

It ebbs and flows.

Let things come

and let things go.

Dragonfly (A Poem)

Dragonfly.
He says, “I hope you’re doing better
then the day the good Lord called me up.
You’ll be alright.
I’m at peace. I’ve joined forever.
You’re gonna love it here.

dragonfly

I never left you.
No, you were never left behind.
See, now I’m always by your side.”
Love,
Dragonfly.

I AM (A Poem)

Though I’m saddened when you make mistakes,
My heart is joyful when you seek My face.
For I did not come to help the morally right,
but the fallen and broken are dear in My sight.
The closer you come to Me,
the closer I AM.
Though distractions are plenty,
so is My hand…
Reaching out for you daily,
My peace is there for the taking
So if you’re tired of waiting
come find rest in I AM.

September 11 (A Poem)

As the towers came crashing down
and all the bodies crushed but found…
What used to be, no more is there.
It seems our perfect lives are so unfair.

America, America.
How beautiful and kind to me.
Tragedy unites. Our pride goes on.
Home of the brave and land of the free.

I’m Glad You Came (A Poem)

I’m glad you came.
Came into my life
and washed all my cares away.
Now every thing’s alright.
And I hope you’re here to stay.
Stay with me all night.

I’m glad you came.

Losing Me (A Poem)

I’m on my knees. I’m on my knees
begging, “Baby, don’t leave.”
You hear my cries. You hear me plead.
And still you want to be free.

I’m not afraid. I’m not afraid
of losing you.
I think I’m more afraid
of losing me.

How to Make My Sister Happy (A Poem to Her Fiancé)

With my sister’s wedding now just ten days away, I wanted to share with you all a poem I wrote for her Fiancé, my future Brother-in-Law, on how to make her happy. I think you will find this poem is applicable to many relationships, not just theirs. And perhaps, at the very least, it will warm your heart.

How To Make My Sister Happy

First off, she loves you,
so just stick around.
When she gets carried away,
you hold her down.

She likes fancy things
so every once in a while,
splurge a little on her.
Gifts make her smile.

Listen to her.
Consider her needs.
Put yourself second
and remember to breath.

When she asks for space,
respect and believe her.
The love you will gain
is based on how you treat her.

So treat her with kindness
and forgive her with ease.
Enjoy every moment.
Love her good for me, please.

I Don’t Mind (A Poem)

No I don’t mind
if I don’t see you in the morning
and don’t hear from you at night.

I said I don’t mind
because I know just who I am
and I know I’ll be just fine.

Now don’t think I won’t miss you boy
and seeing that sweet face.
We’ve got red hot memories
strewn all over the place.

But if now is not our time
well, who am I to fight?
No, I don’t mind.
I’ll be just fine.
