Self-acceptance is a way of viewing oneself compassionately, without condemning or justifying yourself. It is the starting point in life that opens the door to all other things.
“In your whole life nobody has ever abused you more than you have abused yourself. And the limit of your self-abuse is exactly the limit that you will tolerate from someone else.
If someone abuses you a little more than you abuse yourself, you will probably walk away from that person. But if someone abuses you a little less than you abuse yourself, you will probably stay in the relationship and tolerate endlessly.”
-Don Miguel Ruiz
Being compassionate enough to accommodate our own fears takes courage.
When fear arrives, just to sit with it, if only for a moment, is the ultimate act of kindness to ourselves.
My most precious child,
If there is any lesson I would want to leave with you, it is to love yourself. Find peace with who you are and don’t look outside yourself for acceptance and love. Find it deep within yourself and treasure it always. When you love yourself like that, you will know the kind of love I will always have for you.
If you look at the millions of stars stretched out above you, you realize how small you are.
It’s a good thing to be reminded of. In the grand scheme of things, you’re tiny. A mere blip.
But you’re also irreplaceable, invaluable, and miraculous. Truth is, those stars ain’t got nothing on you! 😉
I like flaws and am most comfortable around those who have them. I, myself, am made up entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.
Balance is not letting anyone love you less than you love yourself.
