The Power of Thought

It is written, “The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the spirit is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6)

You are aware of the power of thought. Thoughts affect your mood. They trickle into your everyday reality and change things to fit their existence. Therefore, be careful with your thoughts!

Be careful also of your consumption. As the information you take in can drive your thoughts. Don’t let your mind be distracted by the darkness of this world. You are no longer of this world. I have overcome this world!

Experience has taught you to be wary of others. But My Word is more true than experience. If you are to be the light that I intended for you to be, you must reside in me. Not in this world. And not in your experiences of this world.

My son, Jesus, walked in your shoes. He lived as you do. So I can assure you, I am well aware of the pain and suffering that others can inflict upon you. Justice? Fairness? When you get to where you’re going, and only then, will you experience the justice and fairness that I intended for my people on Earth. But your work here is not yet done.

So in the meantime, reject lies. Reject fear. Reject anxious thoughts and worrying. Lean into me, into truth, into light. That you may be that light to others. It is needed now more than ever.

The Meaning of Christmas (and a Poem)

As Christmas is fast approaching, my prayer is that we don’t get so caught up in our own celebrations that we forget the meaning of this special holiday. We celebrate because Jesus Christ purchased salvation for both the Jews and the Gentiles. Christmas would be meaningless if He didn’t purchase salvation for sinners. He lived a perfect life and died in our place. And then He rose from the dead! This is the meaning of Christmas. This is the reason we celebrate. And it sure is cause to celebrate!

God’s children are all across the Earth, in a variety of seasons and circumstances. May our hearts be grateful and generous this Christmas season as we reflect not only on our own lives, but also on the lives of others. Below is a poem I wrote entitled, “The Many Faces of Christmas.” Enjoy and Merry Christmas to all!

Cold streets, winter nights

Warm windows, wrapped with lights

Loneliness and hands that freeze

Mistletoes and sparkling trees

Santa Clause finds some, not all

Some are at the Christmas Ball

While some are huddled close together

Under bridges, facing weather

Some are warm, by a fire

Some at stores, the constant buyer

Some in Church, singing praise

Some are gone, been so for days

As you join family and friends,

Think of all the faces that Christmas lends.

And don’t complain, whatever you do

There’s always someone who has it worse than you.

The Calm Within the Storm

I received this message in my email recently and was quite touched by it. Wanted to share it here in hopes that it might touch some of you as well.

The Psalmist wrote, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.” PS 55:6

Have you ever felt that way? Sorry, there’s no escape! Wherever you go — there you are!

Peace is “an inside job.”

Oceanographers tell us that even the worst ocean storms rarely extend more than twenty-five feet below the surface. Gales can rip the ocean, causing tidal waves one hundred feet high, but just twenty-five feet below the surface the water is as calm as a pond.

The point is this: The only place you’ll ever find peace in the midst of life’s storms, is through an in-depth experience with God.

Korean Christians have a saying: “We’re just like nails. The harder you hit us, the deeper you drive us; and the deeper you drive us, the more peaceful it becomes!”

hammer nail

Part of God’s purpose in allowing the storms of life to blow, is to drive us deeper. Deeper into dependence on Him and deeper into relationship with Him.

Someone said, “God takes life’s broken pieces and gives us unbroken peace.” When you focus on the God who never meets a problem He can’t solve, instead of focusing on the problem you can’t solve, you’ll experience in-depth peace. And you’ll carry that peace with you wherever you go. Others will notice it and seek your advice when they too face trouble.

You see, when you know that the God within you reigns above you, you won’t succumb to what’s around you.

I AM (A Poem)

Though I’m saddened when you make mistakes,
My heart is joyful when you seek My face.
For I did not come to help the morally right,
but the fallen and broken are dear in My sight.
The closer you come to Me,
the closer I AM.
Though distractions are plenty,
so is My hand…
Reaching out for you daily,
My peace is there for the taking
So if you’re tired of waiting
come find rest in I AM.

God does not choose the righteous. He makes righteous those He chooses.

God Can Only Fill Empty Hands

Anything you hold in your own hands, you lose.

In order to use you, God must be the One to fill you. And God can only fill empty hands.

empty hands

Therefore when God gives you things in life, be it wealth, prosperity, material goods, relationships, ect., don’t waste it, don’t grasp it, don’t trust in it for security, and don’t expect it to satisfy you.

Place all that you love in God’s hands, so that He, and He alone, may be your security and satisfaction.

Conversation with God – NOW

Dear Child of Mine,

Stay present. Now is all you have. Don’t you see that the present is all that exists? It is where you find Me. It is where you find True Life. I am.

Do you not know that I am with you always? I am guiding your every step. Even when your fallen mind becomes distracted and begins to wander from Me, I will not let you go too far.

You are never lost. You are home. You are here. With Me. Now.

When you need to be reminded of this, come sit in My Presence, just as you are. It is good to stay grounded. I have everything under control and you are exactly where I intend for you to be.

So enjoy this moment, love the ones you’re with, and share The Good News about Me. It is really that simple.

You all complicated things when you introduced time. Have you forgotten that I am Timeless? Where I exist there is no time.

I am here with you, now and forever. Now, won’t you stay here with Me?

Conversation with God – Jeremiah 29:13-14

It is written, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord…” (Jeremiah 29:13-14)

Child, can’t you see that I long to be pursued by you? I am a true romantic.

And selfless as My love is, I want this for you, not just for me. Though it brings Me great pleasure when you search for Me, it benefits you even more.

It is this process, this endless pursuit, this great romance that defines our relationship. Doesn’t it sound exciting? I hope that your heart delights in Me, as Mine does in you.

Continue to seek Me. Begin your search again and again with each new day. Not only does this please Me, but it fulfills your deepest desire: to be found.

It is My desire too; to be found. Can you tell that you were created in My image? 😉

Conversation with God – Galatians 5:22-23

It is written, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23)

This is where the fruit of the Spirit lives, in your heart. It is where I reside. If you can quiet your mind enough to listen to your heart and be present in every moment, there you will find all the fruits of the Spirit and many more gifts as well.

All you have to do is stay present and open. Here you will find all the fruits of the Spirit and they will fill your entire being, intertwining themselves in your life and relationships. I will be there. I am.

A Poem Inspired by The Book of Ecclesiastes

Neither the wise nor the fool
Will be remembered for long,
Since both will be forgotten
In the days to come.

Both the wise and the foolish
We all will one day die.
Everything seems pointless
Like catching wind from the sky.

It’s easy to fall into a pit
Of deep and dark despair.
We work so hard, then pass away.
So why should we even care?

We can fill our days with pleasure
Make achievements of every kind
Then get drunk off wine and wonder
What it takes to quiet our mind.

Yes, even this seems pointless,
When we step back and look away.
Spend enough time pondering it
We end up on our knees to pray.

Alas! It’s this! Our purpose is here.
In Him, we find it all more clear.
He came with meaning after the fall.
Now life’s not so pointless after all.
