Conversations with God – John 15:26-27

June 7, 2012

It is written, “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.” John 15: 26-27. You have seen, I speak through you. I am using you. I have chosen you! The Counselor, the spirit who lives inside of you and I in him will testify for me, through you. When you notice something comes from you that does not seem from you and is on my behalf, it is from me, through the Counselor. You will have profound things to say, wisdom beyond your years, melodies and sounds that come from heaven itself. But you must not take credit for them. They are not from you. Therefore, when the Counselor comes to you and testifies about me, you may feel taken aback but you must qualify his statements. You must qualify his testimony. You must qualify me. For who are you, apart from me?

Straddling Today

If you have one foot in yesterday and one foot in tomorrow, you’re straddling today rather than living in it.

Why Lying Hurts the Liar

When you lie to someone you love, even about something seemingly insignificant, each lie is like a brick in a wall going up between the two of you. And when he tells you he loves you, the wall deflects it away…

The Greatest Gift

The ultimate present is presence. Not just physical presence but presence of mind, heart, and spirit. When you give of your time, you can’t get it back. Therefore, your presence is the greatest gift you can offer another.

Why Must I Write?

How do you live in the moment yet plan for the future?

How do you let go of something you love?

Why not hold on tight, if you fear that you’ll lose her?

Why do you fear, if love is enough?

How will fate find you if you travel away?

Why do you dream of forever when all you have is today?

Why must I insist on understanding it all?

Does a painting ever ask why it hangs on the wall?

No more can it understand the totality of the hall

Then I can my Creator, or why I must write at all…

Effective teaching means that we explain to our kids what they are already observing in our lives. -C.J. Mahaney

Do Better, Dads

These days people seem to think that if a man provides his family with food and shelter (and doesn’t hurt them), then he’s a good father. possum

Possums provide their children with food and shelter! Is that really the bar we’ve set for fatherhood?!  Do Better, Dads.

Remember…

You still have 5 days left to make the most of 2013. Be sure to make today count!

Daily Inspiration

You only have one life to live. There are going to be a lot of maybes, what-ifs, and could-have-beens. But if you want to spend your life happy, focus on what you already have…

A Poem by Christopher Poindexter

“They say

love will not

last,

that it has no

happy ending,

but I say the hell

with what they say,

let us burn

these fears down

to the ground and

we will dance

like children

in the ashes.”
