Bless the Poor

The Christian God is the only one who blesses the poor. All other religions bless the strong. But Jesus died in shame and weakness– OUR shame and weakness! Therefore, God didn’t save us by strength, He saved us through weakness. This is why He blesses the poor and weak.

Wisdom from My Doctor’s Office

Found this little quote painted on the wall of my doctor’s office. I love it.

“Doctors are people who prescribe medicine of which they know little, to cure diseases of which they know less, in human beings of whom they know nothing.”

Humility is priceless.

For some reason, I love this…

“…you were saved not in order to live…you have little time you must give testimony.

Be courageous when the mind deceives you, be courageous. In the final account, only this is important.

Beware, however, of unnecessary pride. Keep looking at your clown’s face in the mirror. Repeat: I was called- weren’t there better ones than I…”

-Zbigniew Herbert, from “The Envoy of Mr. Cogito”

Overachievers

Out of fear of not doing enough, I’ve driven myself to do too much, hurting others in my path. Jesus, take the wheel.

Even after all this time, the Sun never says to the Earth, “You owe me.” Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the whole sky.

The Tragedy of Art

Too often artists begin to perceive their work as a product of their own intellect; forgetting that the mind is the great deceiver and that creativity is in fact a gift entrusted to the artist. Suddenly and inevitably, the work becomes more about the ego and less about the art itself, changing the person from an artist to an egomaniac. In my opinion, this is the most common danger faced by the artist of today and also the greatest tragedy of art.
