Conversation with God: Faith Without Action

I often pray for the people in my life who I don’t think know God, to know Him…To experience Him the way that we were designed to.

Recently, God replied to me, “Oh yes, I love those people. You ought to introduce us.”

He reminds me, in His oh so loving manner, that faith without action is useless…

Conversation with God: Why do you do what you do?

God said, “Let me ask you something. Why do you do what you do? For what?

To be someone? You are the Chosen Child of the Creator of the Universe. (1 Peter 2:9)

To be recognized? Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. (Jeremiah 1:5)

For approval? Praise? You have all of that in Me. (Zephaniah 3:17)

I am inviting you, Child, to rest in Me, where Time is Limitless, Grace is infinite, and my Love is greater still.”

If we refuse to see the Life-Maker and live by His Law, we’re left with the life-taker to die by his claw. For reasons only God fully comprehends, the devil still ‘Walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour’ (1 Peter 5:8).

‘Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves’ (Philippians 2:3). Because ‘His power is perfected in weakness’ ‘ (2 Corinthians 12:9). Because ‘Those who humble themselves will be exalted’ (Matthew 23:12).

Most of us agree: we’re blessed. Our lives are full of good things like family, friendship, love, career, success, money, food, music, nature and on and on. But let us remember these good things for what they are: gifts. Rather than clinging to or obsessing over any of these gifts, may we instead cling to and become obsessed with the Giver.
